More than 80,000 cases of respiratory infections - clinical influenza, acute upper respiratory tract infections and pneumonia - were reported in the week of November 17-23, the National Centre for Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases within the National Institute of Public Health reported on Thursday.
As many as 80,036 cases of respiratory infections (clinical influenza, IACRS and pneumonia) were registered, 9.8% more compared to the previous week (72,897) and 18% less compared to the same week of the previous season (97,570). The negative variation compared to the calculated average of 91,256 cases in recent seasons (2018 - 2025, except for pandemic seasons) was 12.3%, agerpres reports.
During the reporting period, 749 clinical influenza cases were registered nationwide, compared to 243 in the same week of the previous season.
Since the beginning of the season, 26 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases have been registered, of which 18 with non-subtyped influenza A virus; three with influenza AH3 virus, two with influenza AH1 virus, three cases with influenza B virus.
As of November 23, 1,113,715 influenza vaccinations were registered in the National Electronic Vaccination Registry.
