Minister of Justice Radu Marinescu requested on Friday that judicial authorities react "promptly" in investigating crimes committed within the school environment.

"Violence in schools is unacceptable! I call upon judicial authorities to react promptly in investigating crimes committed in the school environment. The Ministry of Justice will prioritize the reform of criminal legislation regarding the standards for criminalizing and sanctioning this type of criminal behavior, as well as the conditions for the criminal liability of minors," Radu Marinescu wrote on Facebook, Agerpres reports.

His reaction comes in the wake of violent incidents that took place this week at two schools in Bistrita and Pitesti.

On Thursday, a ninth-grade student entered the "Armand Calinescu" Technical College in Pitesti carrying a machete and, seeking revenge, injured two fellow students.

On Monday, a 13-year-old student at the "Stefan cel Mare" Middle School in Bistrita attacked a teacher with a knife and injured a 12-year-old boy. During the attack, the student wore a balaclava and a helmet.
