Romania's ambassador to the United States of America, George Maior says he has "never ever taken money from anybody", adding that the "slander he is targeted with" in the public space is part "of a larger effort of systematic discrediting" of his reputation.
Maior also says he is reserving the right to sue those who advance "such wickedness."
"Referring to the calumnies streamed in the public space by Mr. Gheorghe Becali, I strongly reject such lies. I have never ever taken money from anybody and I reserve the right to sue those who launch such enormities that are obviously part of a broader effort to systematically discredit my reputation," says Maior in a statement sent to agerpres. on Thursday night.
The Steaua Bucharest soccer club owner maintained at Romania TV private broadcaster that he has allegedly given USD 10,000 to the former Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI)'s head George Maior.
