In phone call, ForMin Odobescu, US SOS Blinken discuss implications of Russian attacks on Ukrainian river ports
Romania's Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu and the US Secretary of State (SOS) Antony Blinken on Thursday had a phone conversation at Blinken's request talking about the implications to Romania of the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian river ports, told Agerpres.
According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE), the head of the Romanian diplomacy welcomed the support and solidarity of the US and the other Allies with Romania and emphasised the importance of keeping NATO's attention on the developments in the Black Sea and the region.
Odobescu and Blinken mentioned the importance of continuing bilateral discussions and coordination on security issues and NATO's current agenda.
The two dignitaries highlighted the excellent level of bilateral co-operation and a common interest in new dimensions in the bilateral relationship, with emphasis on energy collaboration.
Blinken underlined solidarity with Romania and thanked for Romania's support to Ukraine, as well as for the additional measures to facilitate the transit of Ukrainian grain via Romania.
He also appreciated Romania's interest and involvement in identifying effective solutions jointly with the US, the European Commission and Ukraine.
At the same time, Blinken congratulated Romania on hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, a format that is strengthened by the taking in new participants and associates while aiming to increase connectivity with the inclusion of Moldova and Ukraine.
