Wholesale businesses recorded a 7.6% advance in the first ten months of 2017 as a gross series compared to the same period in the previous year, with the most significant increases being recorded in non-specialized wholesale trade (+15.6%), as well as specialized wholesale trade (+ 14.3%), according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Thursday.
At the same time, the turnover in wholesale trade (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles), adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, increased by 7.6% due to the increase in non-specialized wholesale trade (+ 14.8%), wholesale of other products (+ 13.8%), non-food goods (+ 6.8%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and other supplies (+ 6.7%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+ 6.3%), wholesale of raw agricultural products and live animals (+ 2.8%) and of activities of intermediation in wholesale (+ 0.4%). Wholesale of IT equipment and telecommunications declined by 3%.
In October 2017, compared to the same month of 2016, turnover in wholesale (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased by 12.4% as gross series as a result of the increase in non-specialized wholesale trade (+ 22.7%), wholesale of raw agricultural products and livestock (+ 19.3%), specialized trade of other products (+ 16.2%), non-food consumer goods (+ 12%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+ 9.2%).
As series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, in October 2017, compared to October 2016, in nominal terms, turnover in wholesale (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased overall 10.8%, as a result of the increase in non-specialized wholesale trade (+ 22.5%), the specialized trade of other products (+ 15.6%), the wholesale of non-food consumer goods (11.1%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+ 6.5%), wholesale of raw agricultural products and livestock (+ 5.9%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+ 5.3%).
Turnover in wholesale trade (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) as gross series, in October 2017, compared with the previous month, in nominal terms, decreased overall by 0.9% as a result of the decrease in wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and livestock (-8.2%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-4.9%), non-specialized wholesale trade (-4.1%), the specialized wholesale of other products (-1.4%) and the wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (-0.3%). Increases were recorded in the wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (+ 23.4%), intermediation in wholesale (+ 8.1%) and in wholesale of non-food consumer goods (+ 3.4%).
