It is necessary that the Republic of Moldova proves determination in observing the assumed European commitments and continue efforts to strengthening its national bodies in order to gain more predictability, credibility in Europe, president Klaus Iohannis when welcoming the Moldovan Defence minister, Anatolie Salaru at the Cotroceni Palace.
During the meeting, the two officials talked about the development perspectives of the bilateral relationship in joint interest fields, such as security and defence, alongside the European path of Moldova, says a release by the Presidency.
President Klaus Iohannis emphasised the importance Romania gives to Moldova, reflected in its constant support to Chisinau within the bilateral relations of partnership.
The head of state stressed that it is paramount for the Republic of Moldova to further its European path and capitalise the potential of the benefits deriving from the relations with the European Union.
In his turn, minister Anatolie Salaru pointed out the national efforts of his country towards Europe and expressed confidence regarding the furthering of this strategically important path for Moldova.
The Moldovan minister thanked for the constant, substantial support of Romania to the Republic of Moldova in the unfolding of the bilateral ties, as well as in the European context.
During talks, the two officials also tackled the evolution of the situation in the region. AGERPRES
