Romania is promoting a vision of the La Francophonie centred on education, research, mobility and access of young people to the labour market, according to President Klaus Iohannis.
"I am participating in the La Francophonie Summit, which takes place in Paris and Villers-Cotter. Romania is promoting a vision of the La Francophonie centred on education, research, mobility and the access of young people to the labour market," Iohannis wrote in a social media post on Friday.
He participates in the summit on Friday and Saturday.
According to a press release of the Presidential Administration, the 19th High-Level Conference of Heads of State or Government of the 88 full-fledged, associate and observer member states of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) is being held under the motto "Creer, innover, Entreprendre in French" (Create, innovate and undertake in French).
The President's participation in this session of the Francophonie Summit is an opportunity to highlight Romania's contribution to the global effort to transform and adapt multilateralism, an effort that also concerns the OIF, in a context marked by major challenges to the rules-based international order.
Romania will promote its own priorities related to the political and security situation in the French-speaking space, reflected in the resolution that will be adopted on the occasion of the meeting.
Iohannis will participate in a roundtable conference on the integration of young Francophones with the labour market and in a debate on the political priorities in the OIF space.
He will alsounveil Romania's overall vision of the prospects of multilateralism and the role of OIF, with emphasis on responding to current global challenges, and also on the importance given to French-language education and the professional integration of young Francophones.
Iohannis will advocate for the consolidation of the university and scientific Francophonie, which represents one of the major contributions of Romania at the level of the organisation, in favour of the educational and professional mobility of young French-language speakers from the entire French-speaking world.
