In a message to the Federation of Female Employers' Associations gala on Thursday called "Out of Appreciation for You," President Klaus Iohannis announced that soon a "vision for a modern and European Romania" will be put up for public discussions.

"Soon, we will put up for public debate a vision for a modern and European Romania designed by the Country Project Presidential Committee. Precisely because entrepreneurship is the key factor to development and female entrepreneurship is a clue of modernity in society and open opportunities in the economy, I am inviting you to join this consultative approach, because I am convinced that your contribution brings added value and additional value for Romania's future!," Iohannis said in his message, delivered by Cosmin-Stefan Marinescu, presidential adviser - Department of Economic and Social Policies, according to a press statement released by the Presidential Administration.

According to Iohannis, Romanian female entrepreneurship has "a huge potential."

"However, more courage is needed for business women to dare to become successful models in many areas, and there is also a need for consistent policy support from public policy makers. I want to assure you of my full support. I am convinced that, through your efforts and your involvement, our economy and society will progress fully in line with a proactive vision, the values and the relentless passion that characterise your work," Iohannis said.

He noted that female entrepreneurship indicators place Romania on a good place in the rankings.

"Nearly 40 percent of Romanian businesses are run by women and top management is made up of women in the case of about a third of SMEs in the country. These indicators have been steadily improving over the last decade and Romania is currently ranked among the top in European ranking on equal pay for men and women."

Iohannis mentioned trade and services as areas in which companies with female entrepreneurs can be found.

"But women have come up with notable performances in many other sectors that define the economy of the future, such as creative and innovative industries that include areas of great potential, such as the IT sector. I know that many women in Romania are confidently reorienting to entrepreneurship, and such interest is always encouraged. Entrepreneurial environments also encounter obstacles that sometimes turn business into a continuous struggle with bureaucracy, corruption and instability in the sphere of economic decisions," said Iohannis.

At the same time, the president emphasised that female entrepreneurship concerns are common to all entrepreneurs in Romania, as they regard the need for predictability and sustainability.

"At present, Romania can boast of a record economic growth of 7 percent, but the macroeconomic context is not without challenges or risks, some of which are already highlighted by the rising dynamics of inflation, interest rates and the exchange rate, which also affects the business plans of entrepreneurs. We all know that the business environment wants balanced policies, prudent approaches and funded fiscal measures that will facilitate entrepreneurial development rather than disrupt it, as we have seen recently in the mess in the pay system and transferring social contributions to the employee's charge."

The chief of state also said that Romania needs a clear vision of the development of entrepreneurship, a long-term smart vision that will make Romanian entrepreneurship the "backbone of a genuine middle class in our society."

"I am convinced that through such initiatives, the coalescence of entrepreneurial energies on the part of business women, Romania will have much to gain in the long term. Women who are leading successful business today worth millions or billions are best proof that we can; they are the best example of competitiveness and progress in Romania's economy," Iohannis said.
