Health Minister Alexandru Rogobebe said on Tuesday that he had asked the Prahova Public Health Directorate (DSP) not to lift the restrictions until the water is compliant, indicating that introducing contaminated water into a centralized system would be an unprecedented epidemiological incident.

"I have maintained constant contact with the Prahova Public Health Directorate and asked them to do their job to the end, that is, until the water does not have a microbiological control, respectively does not respect the compliant physico-chemical indicators in order to be introduced into the centralized network, not to lift the DSP restriction," Minister Rogobete said in a press conference held in Ploiesti in the context of the water crisis at the Paltinu Dam.

According to him, such a thing is "out of the question" because it would lead to an unprecedented public health incident.

"It is out of the question to introduce water contaminated with anything into a centralized system until you have a microbiological control and until you make sure that the water in question does not affect the population. (...) an unprecedented public health and epidemiological incident would have occurred if this had happened," added Minister Alexandru Rogobete.
