Swiss artist Nik Bartsch and Greek artist Tania Giannouli will be present at the 10th edition of the Jazz in Church festival, which returns to the Lutheran Church in Bucharest between May 8 and 11.

According to a press release sent on Monday to AGERPRES, the programme of the edition includes a mix of artists recognized for their contribution to European jazz, as well as the newest and most innovative contemporary music bands.

Also, Argentine Javier Girotto will bring to the Lutheran Church stage "Aires Tango" - his most successful musical creation, a quartet that, since the mid-90s, has captivated the audience by innovatively combining tango with the freedom of jazz improvisation. Inspired by the revolution brought by Astor Piazzolla, Girotto transforms Argentine melodies and rhythms into emotional and unpredictable instrumental fantasies, together with Alessandro Gwis (piano and electronics), Marco Siniscalco (bass) and Francesco De Rubeis (drums) and special guest: the Italian Luca Ciarla, considered one of the most interesting contemporary violinists.

Among the surprises of the festival are the band Ill Considered - strange, crazy and intense vibes at the forefront of contemporary improvised music from the UK. The show will be all the more special, as their style is completely based on creating compositions at the moment of performance and their dynamic jams encompass a wide range of influences, from Electronic/Drum & Bass to Afrobeat and spiritual jazz, always with groove as the central element.

festival will open on May 8, with Shuteen Erdenebaatar&Nils Kugelmann - Mongolia/Germany (piano, double bass, clarinet, contralto clarinet); and Fergus McCreadie Trio - Scotland (piano, bass, drums).

On May 9, Arve Henriksen&Michele Rabbia - Norway/Italy (trumpet, percussion); and Nik Bartsch & Tania Giannouli - Switzerland / Greece (piano), and on May 10, Vlad Nastase - Romania (organ, piano) and Javier Girotto Aires Tango&Luca Ciarla - Argentina/Italy (Javier Girotto: saxophone, Alessandro Gwis - piano, Marco Siniscalco - double bass, Francesco De Rubeis - drums, Luca Ciarla - violin) will be heard.

On the last day of the festival, Charlotte Reinhardt Trio - France (Charlotte Reinhardt - piano, Juliette Serrad - cello, Franck Agulhon - drums); and Ill Considered - England (saxophone, bass, drums) will perform.

Tickets are available online, at https://eventbook.ro/festival/jazz-in-church.

The festival is organized by the JAZZ.RO association, in partnership with the Evangelical Church C.A. in Bucharest.
