The problems with the government deficit must be approached very seriously and balanced solutions must be found, measures through which it can be shown to society that any sacrifice for narrowing the government deficit brings well-being and hope for every person, for every family, in the medium and long term, national leader of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor said on Wednesday after consultations with President Nicusor Dan at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.

"We also talked a little about the possibility of forming a government with majority support in Parliament. I said that at this moment the problems with the government deficit must be approached very seriously and we must find balanced solutions, because the first challenge is to bring this year additional revenues, almost 30 billion, if we want to reach a deficit of 7%. And that cannot be done either by increasing taxes or fees, or by cutting expenses. Just going in one direction or another would mean an imbalance that would also mean tensions in society, and we must find those measures through which in the medium term, in the long term, it can be shown to society that in the medium and long term any sacrifice for narrowing the government deficit brings well-being and hope for every person, for every family," said Kelemen.

He also that there will be discussions with specialists of the political parties, most likely starting on Thursday, adding that a detailed political agreement will be needed on the measures that will be agreed upon. AGERPRES
