Evidence that led to the annulment of the November 24 presidential election should come from the presidential institution, Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) national leader Kelemen Hunor said on Tuesday.

Asked by Antena 3 CNN private broadcaster if the proof behind the annulment of the elections should come out, Kelemen said: "Definitely. And I am waiting for that. From the president. There's no one else. You can only expect from someone from the presidential institution and that means the responsibility of the president. Whether it's in extra time or not in extra time, it really doesn't matter. That's where it has to come from. And others could come up with an explanation, if they have such information. They don't. That's where everything comes together. You can't expect the secret services, because that's not their role, to hold a press conference and speak."

According to the UDMR leader, it is the president's responsibility to come up with more arguments, more explanations, more transparency.

"There is still a small window, but after it closes we enter campaigning directly, and I am afraid that the coalition candidate will pay for this lack of communication and transparency."

Kelemen also drew attention to the fact that there is a "serious" situation in relation to the national budget.

"We must have a vote on the budget on February 6. I hope that we will close the debates and the vote on the budget, because we need a budget. We are in a rather serious situation, to put it mildly, because last year we closed on a very large deficit, both a government and a trade deficit. These things must be seen, you cannot spend more than you earn, it is an elementary thing, restructuring is needed, because without a reform you cannot adjust this problem from the budget. So, there are many, many things that require time, patience and, of course, sincerity and very, very much humility and decency on the part of politicians, especially those in the government."
