President Klaus Iohannis signed on Thursday the decree for awarding the National Order "Faithful Service" in the rank of Grand Cross to Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (2021-2025).
According to the Presidential Administration, the head of state conferred the order on Alejandro Mayorkas in sign of "high recognition of the special contribution made to the consolidation of the partnership in the field of security between Romania and the United States of America, by advancing the objective of including Romania in the Visa Waiver Program, as well as for the intensification of Romanian-American bilateral relations".
Also, in appreciation for the "consistent support of Romania's initiatives and projects within the Parliamentary Francophonie, by promoting constructive dialogue and strategic collaboration in areas of common interest, such as sustainable and equitable development in the Francophonie area", President Klaus Iohannis conferred the National Order "Faithful Service" in the rank of Commander on Damien Cesselin, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie.
