The Constitutional Court's decisions to reject the challenges filed by the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) confirm that the budget is correct, legal and responsibly built, representing a clear validation for the government, floor leader of the Liberal deputies Gabriel Andronache said on Thursday.
"Today's decisions of the Constitutional Court to reject AUR's challenges confirm a simple fact: Romania's budget is correct, legal and responsibly built. It is a clear validation for the government, for the financial-budgetary seriousness of governmental action. The state budget for 2026 reflects Romania's efforts and commitments toward financial recovery, better absorption of European funds and support for local administrations, as well as economic recovery in a complicated period," Andronache wrote on Facebook.
According to him, the opposition did not present realistic solutions for the budget construction, but only "delays and obstruction".
"Challenging the budget at the Constitutional Court was a demagogic action, without any basis and, in fact, useless. Now it is clear: reforms move forward, with constitutional validation, despite populism. We have a budget that provides for record investments of over 165 billion RON and a decreasing budget deficit for the second consecutive year, which fits within the pledged deficit target of 6.2%. At the same time, the Bolojan Government kept its promise not to increase taxes and duties this year," the Liberal added.
He noted that the rejection of AUR's challenges opens the way for the fast promulgation of the budget by the President of Romania, followed by the approval of local public administration budgets, enabling major investments in localities and improving the efficiency of state institutions in the territory.
The Constitutional Court of Romania ruled on Thursday that the State Budget Law and the Social Security Budget Law for 2026 were adopted in compliance with constitutional provisions.
