The National Council of the National Liberal Party (PNL) adopted the party's new statute on Saturday, introducing around 100 amendments, with the upcoming congress set to limit the leadership's mandate to two years.
Among the key changes are the decentralisation of decision-making in the selection of representatives for party leadership bodies, recognition of political and administrative performance, increased accountability in managing leadership roles, as well as the removal of the motion as a defining requirement for candidacy for the position of PNL chair, said Agerpres.
"The National Political Bureau proposes a new way of electing the PNL chair - a personalised competition - with the political programme to be adopted by the Congress, as a consolidation of all doctrinal ideas within the party," explained Gabriel Andronache, chair of the Statute Committee.
He noted that the PNL will have 'leaner political structures,' while retaining the four central decision-making levels from the previous statute: the Congress, the National Council, the National Political Bureau and the Executive Bureau.
