Managers estimate price increase in processing industry, retail and services, in next 3 months

Romanian managers are estimating for the next three months a price increase in the processing industry, retail and services, according to the results of a survey published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In the said survey of January 2022, managers in the processing industry project for the following three months a relative stability of production volume (conjectural balance of 1%). For the manufacturing activity of coking products and products obtained by crude oil processing the highest increase will be registered (62% conjectural balance).

Regarding the number of employees, a relative stability is estimated, the conjectural balance being +4% for the total of the processing industry. For the industrial prices, there is a forecast of increase in the following three months (39% conjectural balance).

According to the estimates of January 2022, the construction activity will register a moderate drop in production volume in the next three months (-6% conjectural balance). Managers are estimating a moderate drop in the number of employees (conjectural balance of -7%). Regarding prices in construction works, an accentuated growth is projected (conjectural balance of +49%).

In the retail sector managers estimate a moderate drop of economic activity in the next three months (conjectural balance of -12%). Volume of orders for the suppliers of goods towards commercial units will register a moderate drop (-7% conjectural balance). Employers forecast a moderate increase of number of employees for the next three months (+12% conjectural balance).

Business managers estimate an increase in retail prices (+39% conjectural balance).

According to the estimates of January 2022, the demand for services (turnover) will know a relative stability in the next three months (+2% conjectural balance). The services sector also estimates relative stability in number of employees (-2% conjectural balance). According to the opinion of managers, sale prices or service billing will have an upwards trend (+23% conjectural balance).
