Representatives of the 43 civic organisations who have been received on Wednesday by Prime Minister Mihai Tudose at the Victoria Palace have asked the gov't head to delay the Laws of Justice's application through an Emergency Ordinance (OUG), notify the Venice Commission on the same topic and sack the Justice Minister Tudorel Toader, the representative of the Initiativa Romania civic movement Mihai Polițeanu said.

"Today we went to meet Premier Mihai Tudose, whom we have delivered a very clear message and had three requests. The message is that Romania is at a major moment of slippage from the democratic, rule of law standards and that the Premier must assume responsibilities he has and use institutional levers so to halt these major slippages," Politeanu stressed after the over two-hour meeting with Premier Tudose.

Politeanu asserted that the three demands only received one single answer from the Prime minister.

"The answer is regarding the notification of the Venice Commission. At this point, this is not a categorical answer. He said that in the following days he will look into the talks the Justice Minister has had with the Venice Commission's officials and will make a decision accordingly," Politeanu added.

In his opinion, the talk with the Premier is not "satisfactory".

"Solution is further protests and once again protests until these Laws of Justice and the amendments to the criminal legislation will be totally halted," Politeanu said.

According to him, at the NGOs demand to delaying the Laws of Justice's enforcement, the Premier said that the gov't is not assuming OUGs in criminal legislation's matters.

"As regards the dismissal of the Minister of Justice, I presumed a negative answer, although the Premier didn't say <>," Politeanu said.

"We are in a serious moment, the separation of the state powers has been erased completely. The legislative has been put under certain criminal-linked interests of some people and I'm talking here firstly about the heads of the two chambers of the Parliament, who have direct interests, since they both have criminal files," Politeanu stated.

In his opinion, the Parliament's behaviour is similar to being "at the restaurant".

"This is what the Parliament is at this moment - a restaurant where each and every one is serving themselves on decriminalization of the corruption deeds or other grave criminal offences," Politeanu added.
