A total of 26 top drivers, from the most important disciplines of motorsports, will compete this weekend for the Mihai Leu Trophy, which will be awarded to the winner of the first stage of the Super Rally organized in the municipality of Hunedoara, a competition dedicated to the memory of the legendary boxing and rally champion.

According to a press release from the organizers, the stage will begin on Friday evening, at 18:00, with a festive start, organized in front of the Hunedoara Culture Hall, where the drivers will present their cars. Among the models that fans will be able to admire are Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, Porsche Carrera, Skoda Fabia Rally2, Wolf single-seaters, the Funyo prototype, Audi RS3 LMS or BMW M240 Racing Cup.

The evening will end with an emotional and unique moment in memory of Mihai Leu. Romanian sports legends will also convey messages about what the great champion meant to Romania.

Super Rally is the only sports car competition held exclusively on urban routes, right in the heart of the most important cities in Romania. The Hunedoara route will be 1.7 kilometers long, and each driver will drive it three times per leg.

The race itself will start on Saturday morning, at 09:00, with the familiarization legs, followed by free practice and the two competition legs, scheduled from 14:00, which will determine the winners.

"I am honored that we can continue this dream. Mihai wanted with all his heart to organize a stage here again, and the Super Rally was his soul project. I want the Mihai Leu Trophy in Hunedoara to become a tradition and a landmark in Romanian sports motoring", said Anna Leu, the championship promoter.

Among the important names present at the start are the absolute champion in the Super Rally, Leo Borlovan, the former rally champion Vali Porcisteanu, the leader of the touring cars in hillclimbing Radu Benea, the absolute vice-champion in hillclimbing Lucian Radut, but also the experienced Adrian Teslovan.

The Mihai Leu Trophy Hunedoara represents the third stage of the National Super Rally Championship powered by Superbet, after those held in Alba Iulia and Timisoara. This year's final will take place on October 25, in Bucharest, in front of the Romanian Athenaeum.

The public will have free access on both days of the competition, both at the festive start and on the competition route, arranged in the area of Dacia Boulevard in Hunedoara. Starting on Friday, traffic restrictions will be imposed in the area, necessary for the preparation of the route.
