Military exercise on Sfantu Gheorghe stretch of Danube

Military ships belonging to the River Navy Fleet are participating, starting from Monday, on the Sfantu Gheorghe stretch of the Danube, in training activities in which they use weapons and live ammunition, reads a piece of news made public on the Facebook account of the Sfantu Gheorghe commune.

Ten military ships are participating in the exercise that will end on October 19, the military activities having a permit issued by the Administration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.

"The participating personnel were trained to take all measures during the activity to comply with the environmental protection legislation with special emphasis on the importance of the area where the specific activities are carried out from the point of view of the protection of habitats, species of flora and fauna", reads the information signed by the commander of the River Navy Fleet, rear admiral Nicu Chirea.

According to the source, the ships will be anchored at kilometer 6 of the Danube.
