Minister Alexandru Rafila presented on Wednesday the healthcare measures in the Social Democratic Party (PSD) government programme for 2025-2028, one of the topics addressed being the introduction of health education in schools, informs Agerpres.
"We are talking about multiple areas, we need to teach notions of hygiene, to teach children to eat properly, to teach them to move and to develop preventive behaviours. I am a great believer in health education which gives us two things: a healthier population with fewer years of sickness and a sustainable health system which, in this way, better controls its costs," Rafila pointed out in the presentation made at the PSD headquarters.
The minister of Health also spoke about a residency reform through decentralisation.
"Decentralisation means taking over the coordination of residency by the Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy. So, there will no longer be the Public Health Directorates, which are decentralised institutions of the Ministry of Health, but it is about the Universities of Medicine. That's the way it should be. They prepare them and they should be responsible for the whole training process. Of course, the discussions we have with the universities are related to the real need for each specialty," mentioned Alexandru Rafila.
According to him, once the Register of Healthcare Professionals comes into operation, there will be a statistic of the physicians who remain at the posts their are given.
