The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) is launching two calls for applications for funding under the Aquaculture and Fisheries Programme 2021-2027, the total value of the available funds being approximately 53 million euros, the MADR informs in a press release.

The programme is managed by the Directorate General for Fisheries - Managing Authority for the Operational Programme for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs (DGP AMPOPAM).

The call for investments in aquaculture aims to support the establishment, expansion and modernisation of aquaculture farms, with the aim of stimulating the growth and diversification of production, especially with species from local ichthyofauna, as well as the transition to sustainable practices, with reduced environmental impact. Funding is granted for efficient investments in the use of resources, generating social benefits or focused on ecological production. The total financial allocation for this call is 49.169 million euros, and the maximum eligible value of a project is 6 million euros. Applications for funding for this action can be submitted until July 11.

The second call aims to support investments for the processing of fishery and aquaculture products. The total financial allocation for this call is 3.93 million euros, and the maximum eligible value of a project is 1.5 million euros. Applications for funding for this action can be submitted until July 11, 2025.

The total financial allocation for the 2021-2027 programming period, granted to Romania for this programme, is over 232.072 million euros, of which the EU contribution represents 162.451 million euros.

According to the same source, the implementation of this programme aims to contribute to: the development of sustainable commercial marine and inland fisheries; sustainable and competitive aquaculture, which makes efficient use of available resources; the organisation of the fisheries market, including the consolidation of fisheries organisations and the support of the short marketing chain; the development of fishing areas, capitalising on the opportunities offered by the sustainable blue economy.
