The Ministry of Finance on Monday attracted 710.3 million RON from banks, through a benchmark government bond issue with a residual maturity of 53 months, at an average yield of 7.17% per annum, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

The nominal value of the additional issue amounted to 500 million RON and banks submitted bids amounting to 985.3 million RON.

The Ministry of Finance planned to borrow 5 billion RON from commercial banks in December 2024, to which 600 million RON can be added through additional non-competitive bidding sessions related to bond auctions.

The total amount of 5.6 billion RON is 895 million RON lower than the 6.495 billion RON scheduled in November 2024 and will be used to refinance public debt and finance the state budget deficit.
