The exhibition "A.REST 1989 - The Securitate's Video Archive" can be visited until November, the National History Museum of Romania (MNIR) announced.
"Due to its popularity with the public, the visiting period for the exhibition 'A.REST 1989 - The Securitate's Video Archive' has been extended until November. The guided tours have also been very well received, attracting a large number of visitors," the National History Museum of Romania said in a Facebook post.
Opened on 16 June, the "A.REST 1989 - The Securitate's Video Archive" exhibition at the National History Museum of Romania reconstructs the world of the Securitate's criminal investigations in 1989, the interrogations and the detention unit, making public for the first time operational audio and video recordings from interrogations and cells.
The exhibition, which was originally due to close on 20 September, presents original artefacts from the Securitate detention centre and items of evidence for the first time in Romania.
"One of them is the printing press used by the group around Petre Mihai Bacanu to print the underground newspaper 'Romania,' which was confiscated by the Securitate on the night of 24 January 1989, recovered and specially brought back to the country on 14 April, more than 27 years later, on the occasion of this exhibition," the National Council for the Study of the Securitate Archives (CNSAS) said in a press release sent to
