The simple motion on economy tabled by the Liberals was quashed on Wednesday in the Lower House plenary by a vote of 103 to 146 and 19 abstentions.

The signatories asked for the resignation of Minister of Economy Danut Andrusca.

"The country's economy is in an impasse. With no vision, no rules, nu strategies, the national economy is a boat drifting aimlessly. Yet the PSD-ALDE government continues its double-throng activity, with public embellished presentations on obedient media outlets on the one hand, and the real doings that pinch the pockets of every Romanian on the other hand. Despite all the warnings triggered by us, the government continues its triumphalist march towards the economic crisis foreshadowed by inflation spiraling out of control, a budget drained by increasingly hard to honor promises, a concerned and pessimistic business milieu, state-owned companies left without money for investments, and a growing foreign debt. Romania is one step away from going broke because of incompetence!", wrote the signatories of the motion.
