Save Romania Union (USR) MP Iulian Bulai, who also serves as the leader of the ALDE group within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), met in Chisinau with President Maia Sandu as the Republic of Moldova assumed the Presidency of the CoE Committee of Ministers.

On the sidelines of the event organized by PACE and the Parliament of Moldova, Bulai also met with the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu, with Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi, and with Moldovan deputies, the USR reports in a press release.

"All European partners congratulate Moldova for its electoral performance in 2024 and 2025. Despite repeated attempts by Russia and oligarchic forces to obstruct its European path, Moldova has stood firm, demonstrating determination and commitment to integration. Romania has a duty to support and strengthen this process. USR lawmakers and ministers are using all the necessary means to meet these needs. We will stand by Moldova until the day we are united in the European Union," said the USR deputy.

At the beginning of November, the Republic of Moldova took over the rotating Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, succeeding Malta, during a meeting of representatives from the organization's 46 member states.

According to the USR release, the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova will be guided by three priorities: support for Ukraine and bringing the Russian Federation to justice for its crime of aggression; support for the ongoing work on the New Democratic Pact for Europe; strengthening the response to disinformation, including foreign information manipulation and interference.

In line with these priorities, Moldova will continue to support the implementation of the Council of Europe convention system, back Ukraine and the fight against cybercrime; the promotion of local democracy, strengthening press freedom and encouraging youth involvement; the protection and implementation of social rights, the protection of children's rights and supporting the implementation of the Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
