Romania recorded 4,689,262 pensioners in August 2025, down by 4,199 compared with the previous month, while the average pension stood at 2,770 lei, according to data centralized by the National Public Pension House (CNPP), consulted by AGERPRES.
The total value of pension rights paid out amounted to 12.988 billion lei.
Out of the total, 547,146 retirees had worked in agriculture, with an average pension of 716 lei.
CNPP statistics show that 3,753,893 people were retired at the age limit, including 2,148,816 women, and received an average pension of 3,097 lei.
In August 2025, there were 3,488 recipients of early retirement pensions (average: 3,938 lei), 85,276 of partial early retirement pensions (average: 2,760 lei) and 404,271 of disability pensions (average: 1,113 lei), of whom 45,867 were in the first-degree disability category (average: 970 lei).
The same month, 442,235 people received survivor's pensions (average: 1,497 lei), while 98 retirees received social aid (average: 540 lei).
