The control launched to analyze the situation in Paltinu will establish who was wrong and all those guilty must pay, said President Nicusor Dan on Wednesday.
"Beyond this evaluation, it is certain that hiring in leadership positions at the level of various state authorities must be done solely on the basis of competency criteria. Even if it will be a long process, streamlining public administration is mandatory for the state to be able to fulfill its mission of serving citizens," the head of state wrote on Facebook.
He highlighted that the disastrous situation at the Paltinu Dam, which generated a crisis of major proportions for the people of Prahova and Dambovita counties, shows "how serious the consequences of the lack of correct anticipation and communication between state institutions can become."
This vulnerability, the president adds, must be remedied in the future.
"When developing technical documentation, it is mandatory to take into account all possible scenarios, so that relevant information is available to decision-makers. At this moment, attention must be directed as a priority towards finding solutions. Political battles and electoral statements do not help anything," Nicusor Dan also wrote.
