President Nicusor Dan said on Monday that a minority government would not represent an appropriate solution for this period.
"[The minority government] I do not think it is an appropriate solution for the times we are living. The fact that each of the parties forming the coalition today says they want to govern and each has some conditions for this to happen leads us to the idea that they will end up understanding each other in one way or another. I do not think a minority government is appropriate," he said during a press conference.
Nicusor Dan mentioned that, although the parties attack each other politically, they collaborate on administrative aspects.
"The parties have been publicly attacking each other for a long time, so they have given us the opportunity to get used to this situation. On the other hand, when it comes to taking some measures, such as the issue of fuel excise, we see that they cooperate. So, it is a combination of administrative and political play. On the administrative side, it works", he said.
The head of state mentioned that he had spoken in recent days with each of the coalition leaders, as he frequently does. Regarding the internal analysis carried out by the PSD, regarding the opportunity to remain in power, the president showed that a consultation represents a democratic gesture.
"First of all, a consultation is a democratic gesture. Furthermore, for the moment we have a coalition. We have a commitment from each of these parties that they want to govern and we continue in this formula", he added.
Asked if he still wants Ilie Bolojan as prime minister, Nicusor Dan replied: "We must share the constitutional powers. The President appoints, the Parliament supports the Government throughout the exercise."
