Nine searches were carried out in the Capital City Bucharest and in the counties of Ilfov, Timis, Maramures, Salaj and Neamt, following the event that took place on November 30 in the Tancabesti rural town, where several people participated in the commemoration of the 86th anniversary of the death of the leader of the Legionary Movement, also called the Iron Guard, Corneliu Zelea-Codreanu, Agerpres reports.

The case is being investigated for the crime of using fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic symbols in public.

''The Prosecutor's Office attached to the Ilfov Court carried out nine home searches within the municipality of Bucharest and the counties of Ilfov, Timis, Maramures, Salaj and Neamt, in a case in which investigations are being carried out into the crime of using fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic symbols in public, consisting in the fact that, on 30.11.2024, in the locality of Tancabesti, Ilfov County, a commemoration of the 86th anniversary of the death of the leader of the Legionary Movement, Corneliu Zelea-Codreanu, and 13 other members of the same movement, was organized, in which approximately 100 - 150 people participated," the Prosecutor General's Office informs on Saturday.

The persons targeted by the investigation, along with other still unidentified persons, used flags with symbols representing the Legionary Movement, wore legionary uniforms and adopted specific symbols, such as the salute specific to the Legionary Movement.

Subsequently, several videos with aspects of the Tancabesti commemoration were distributed in the public space, through the TikTok application.
