The number of insolvency files filed by companies in Romania increased by 46.5% in November, compared to the same period last year, according to a financial analysis platform.

Data centralized by RisCo show that the number of insolvency files reached 985 last month, compared to just over 670 files in the same month in 2024, and the increase of about 47% suggests increased pressure on the business milieu.

According to the cited source, in the capital city, during the analyzed period, 213 insolvency files were registered, 34% more than a year ago, when 159 files were recorded.

"The constant increase in the number of insolvencies in Bucharest, observed from one month to the next, suggests difficulties for companies in covering their total expenses. This situation may be caused by decreasing revenues, increasing operational costs or a possible inefficient financial management. Of course, another factor may be the reduction in consumption caused by the increasing pressure of taxes, fiscal obligations and energy prices. At the same time, the upward evolution of insolvencies highlights the amplified pressure on the business milieu, determined by economic instability, respectively persistent inflation - these conditions significantly affect the stability and resilience of companies", reveals the specialized analysis.

Compared to the areas in the country, Vaslui is the county with the highest increase in the number of insolvency files (32, from only two files, in November 2024), followed by Sibiu: (from seven files to 21, +200%), Arges (+129%), Bihor (126%), Timis, Mehedinti and Caras-Severin - with increases of 100%.

The top sectors with the most insolvency filings are: restaurants (208% increase), electrical and sanitary installation works and other construction installation works (up by about 163%), companies carrying out activities related to the cultivation of non-permanent plants (+160%), road freight transport and moving services (+136%), construction works of residential and non-residential buildings (up by about 94%).
