Nearly 50,000 jobs have been posted since the beginning of the year on one of the online recruitment platforms active in Romania, marking a decrease of around 10% compared with the same period in 2025.

According to data compiled by eJobs, within this margin there are also sectors that have increased the number of positions offered, in some cases even doubling the number of available jobs. Thus, the insurance sector recorded a 100% increase in job postings from January to March (4,600 positions compared with 2,300 in 2025).

The second sector with significant growth is financial/banking, with an increase of 58% compared with the first two and a half months of last year. Employers in this sector posted nearly 7,000 jobs in 2026.

Smaller increases were also recorded in transport/logistics (5,500 jobs, +13%), tourism (5,700 positions, +7.5%), the food industry (6,500 jobs, +7.4%), energy (1,700 positions, +5%) and constructions (4,600 vacancies, +1%).

On the other hand, in sectors such as retail, services, or call centre/BPO, a plateau phase can be observed, with no major changes in recruitment compared with last year.

In terms of applications, the specialised analysis shows that these have increased across all sectors of activity, most notably in retail, services, financial-banking and tourism, with a total of 3.1 million applications recorded in January, February and March so far (+24%).

'Regardless of the sector and its evolution compared with last year, across the entire market, most jobs were aimed at entry-level candidates (0-2 years of experience), mid-level candidates (2-5 years of experience), those with no experience at all, and only afterwards at seniors and specialists with more than five years of experience and managers. Changes have also been observed not only in terms of sectors of activity, but also in the cities where hiring has taken place,' a press release from the professional platform sent to AGERPRES on Thursday states.

The municipalities of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Ilfov and Brasov accounted for more than half of the total number of job offers at the start of this year, though significant results were also recorded in Constanta, Sibiu, Targoviste and Buzau.

In the ranking of cities with the highest number of job postings, the capital ranks first, followed by Brasov.

The eJobs platform currently hosts a database of over five million CVs and has 18,000 available jobs, while a further 8,000 positions are listed on iajob.ro.
