Bookfest brings dozens of book launches and top spring titles to Timisoara

The 13th edition of the Bookfest Book Fair returns to Timisoara from March 19 to 22, bringing more than 60 book launches, renowned authors and a wide selection of new spring titles at promotional prices.

Ioana Parvulescu, Denisa Comanescu, Gabriel Liiceanu, Radu Paraschivescu, Cristian Preda, Adelin Petrisor, Bogdan-Alexandru Stanescu, Dan-Liviu Boeriu, Dan Alexe, Iulian Bocai and Radu Vancu are among the writers readers in Timisoara will be able to meet during the event.

On the opening day, at the Regional Business Centre, from 13:00, Brumar Publishing House will host a discussion with Aneta Gabor and Sorin Codat, as part of the "On the Trail of the Revolution" project, involving students from the "Carmen Sylva" National Pedagogical College. The event will be moderated by the publishing house's director, Loredana Tirzioru.

From 17:00, the same publisher will present Florian Mihalcea, president of the "Timisoara" Society, who will launch his volumes "7 Stories about the End of the World" and "Mechanical Poetry", alongside guests Viorel Marineasa and Marcel Tolcea.

On Friday and over the weekend, the programme continues at a steady pace, with dozens of launches, debates and book signing sessions. Well-known authors and cultural figures will be present, while leading publishing houses will showcase new titles and engage with readers.

Saturday's programme will highlight popular authors and events for the general public, while Sunday will feature debates and launches tackling current themes, from contemporary literature to culture and society.

Participating publishers include the Romanian Academy Publishing House, Aranca, ARI, ART Publishing Group, Art Encounters & La Doua Bufnite, the Albanian League Association, the Macedonian Association, Bookbite, Bookzone, Brumar, Cartego, Casa, Corint Publishing Group, Crime Scene Press, Curtea Veche Publishing, Datagroup, Didactica Publishing House, GBV Romania Foundation, Gama, Herald, Humanitas and Humanitas Fiction, Ink Story, Junimea, Lebada Neagra, Litera Publishing Group, Mega, Nemira Publishing, Niculescu, Nomina, Paralela 45, Polirom, Proema, Ratio et Revelatio, Sens, Trei, the West University Publishing House, "Vasile Goldis" West University of Arad Publishing House, Politehnica Publishing House and Zupia.

Bookfest is regarded as Romania's most important book fair and one of the few local publishing events with international reach.

Over the years, its editions have featured guest countries such as Spain, France, Germany, the United States, Japan and Italy, and the event is also organised in other cities, including Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Targu Mures and Brasov.

Admission to all Bookfest events is free, with the fair open daily between 10:00 and 20:00.
