More than 30,000 people attended the concerts held on the first night of the Enisala - unitate la cetate (Unity at the Fortress) festival, Tulcea County Council (CJ) announced.

The festival was opened by the group of alpenhorn players from the Apuseni Mountains, who brought to the foot of the city of Dobrogea for the first time an alpenhorn player from Satu Mare, agerpres reports.

"We came in the formula of six girls and a alpenhorn player. We wanted it to be somehow a premiere, to show that boys also keep the tradition of alpenhorn playing and I think we brought the best of us," coordinator of the group of alpenhorn players from the Apuseni Mountains Narita Crinela told AGERPRES.

She brought to mind that every year Maria Gligor, declared "Living Human Treasure" in 2014, organises alpenhorn music camps in Satu Mare.

"At the beginning, the path is harder, but after six years of experience, it's easy. They also do online courses. The call that is dearest to me is the call to play. It's the most beautiful," said Mircea Onet from Satu Mare.

One of the trainees of the group is a folk singer and wants to carry on the tradition.

"I'm from the Tara Motilor region. I came to Mrs Maria Gligor with the desire to buy a folk costume, because I am also a soloist, and she showed me the alpenhorn. She told me about it, let me try how it is to blow into the alpenhorn and I fell in love with this instrument. I am at the beginning of my journey and I want to be part of this group for as long as possible, because I want to carry on the traditions and folk costumes of the Tara Motilor region," said Alexandra Veres.

On the first day of the Enisala - unity at the fortress festival, Plaiesii, Vita de Vie and Irina Rimes performed and there were equestrian demonstrations and a drone show.

"There were over 30,000 of you today at the Enisala - Unity at the Fortress festival. You were the most beautiful audience at the most beautiful festival. Thank you," the County Council wrote on Facebook on Friday night.

The event will continue on Saturday, starting at 8 pm, with recitals by Lipovan ensembles from Tulcea County, Dubin, Raluka and Balkanic, Iuliana Beregoi, Ilie Caracas and Iris.

On Sunday, at the same time, the Landas Ensemble, Zagan, Connect-R, Compact and Zdob and Zdub will perform.

The festival is organised by the County Council, the Municipality of Sarichioi and a private company from Bucharest.
