The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) announced on Thursday, in a press release sent to AGERPRES, that it has excluded the athlete Florentina Iusco from the Romanian Olympic team for doping.
"The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee has excluded the athlete Florentina Iusco from the Romanian Olympic Team after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced the suspension of the athlete for doping. The National Anti-Doping Agency (ANAD) detected a suspicious diuretic substance at the anti-doping control - furosemide - and decided to sanction the athlete with a warning. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has challenged the decision of ANAD at the CAS, and the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee has requested a firm decision from the specialized international forums until July 25, 2024, before the start of the Olympic competitions," the statement reads.
"The CAS today communicated to ANAD the decision to suspend Florentina Iusco for two years starting with February 1, 2024. All the results recorded by Florentina Iusco from April 23, 2024 to July 24, 2024 have been canceled, and the athlete will not make the trip to Paris 2024," COSR emphasizes.
