The Uricani and Paroseni hard coal miners will receive their wages on Tuesday, after the mining subsidy due for October was transferred into the accounts of the 'Valea Jiului' Mine Closure National Corporation (SNIMVJ), chairman of the "Hard Coal" Union Laszlo Domokos told agerpres.

The union leader said he had talks this morning with the SNIMVJ heads and the management of the Hunedoara Energy Complex and that the sides subsequently signed a protocol, assuring that the Energy Complex will pay for the coal mined by SNIMVJ.

Laszlo Domokos also said that he will go to the Paroseni and Uricani mines to explain to the workers the terms of the freshly hammered out agreement, considering that the prerequisites are in place for the 360 miners who locked themselves underground to end their protest.

Nearly 360 miners from the Paroseni and Uricani Jiu Valley hard coal exploitations barricaded themselves underground during the night and Tuesday morning, unhappy that the disbursement of their November wages had been delayed by one week.

The protest broke out Monday night at the Paroseni mine with the workers of the 3rd shift, and spread during the night and Tuesday morning to the Uricani mine workers of shifts 4 and 1, Laszlo Domokos told AGERPRES.

"A total of 357 miners in shifts 1, 3 and 4 joined the underground protest, all unhappy that they haven't yet received their first fortnight payment for November," said the union leader.

SNIMVJ employs over 880 people and includes the Paroseni, Petrila and Uricani mines which are all part of the Jiu Valley mine closure program. Coal extraction at the Petrila mine was already halted.
