Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church issued a message marking the start of the new academic year, in which he emphasizes that the guidance and support provided to young people must be illuminated by the conviction that they are a great blessing from God for the family, the Church, and society.
"Developing one's own identity, establishing and sustaining the Christian family, bearing and raising children in the love of enduring values, and educating young people in the spirit of the Christian faith constitute priorities and responsibilities for the Family, the Church, and the School. These aspects highlight the importance of providing an integrative education for the professional and spiritual formation of young people, with a view to their participation in the life of the Church and of Romanian society," stated Patriarch Daniel.
On the occasion of the start of the new 2026-2027 academic year, Patriarch Daniel blesses the students, professors, and parents.
"At the start of the new 2026-2027 academic year, we address a message of blessing to all undergraduate and postgraduate students, praying to God that, through wisdom, a virtuous life, and true faith, they may bring joy to their parents, their professors, the Church, and the Romanian people. (...) We pray to the Merciful God, the Father of lights, from whom comes down every good gift and every perfect gift (James 1:17), to bless all students, their professors, and their parents, granting them abundant health and great help!" reads the Patriarch's message.
