PM Bolojan and new Moldovan Ambassador Mitu discuss progress achieved in joint interconnection projects

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan welcomed on Tuesday, at the Victoria Palace, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Mitu, occasion on which they analysed the progress achieved in joint interconnection projects, the improvements in conditions at the border crossing points, as well as the collaboration in the sectors of energy and transport infrastructure.

"Romania will continue to support the Republic of Moldova both in terms of preparing for the accession to the European Union and from an economic and security perspective," Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said, as quoted in a Government release.

The ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania thanked for the constant multidimensional support and expertise provided in preparing the accession to the European Union.

"It is a great honor and responsibility to take up the mandate as ambassador to Romania, in the context in which our bilateral relations are at the highest level. Wee are grateful for Romania's contribution and your personal involvement, Mr Prime Minister, which helped the Republic of Moldova to overcome the issues generated by Russia's aggression against Ukraine," the Moldovan Ambassador underscored, as quoted in the release.

In this context, PM Bolojan and Ambassador Mitu analysed the progress achieved in joint interconnection projects, the improvement in conditions at the border crossing point, as well as the collaboration in the sectors of energy and transport infrastructure, context in which the Pascani-Iasi-Ungheni Motorway project was mentioned, as well as Romania's takeover of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port through the National Company "Maritime Ports Administration" S.A. Constanta.

Moreover, it was underscored the importance of cultural and promotion projects of the Romanian culture within the Agreement through which Romania provides the Republic of Moldova a non-reimbursable financial aid of 100 million euro, signed in 2022.

An important topic on the agenda of talks was the preparation of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union.

Ilie Bolojan reaffirmed Romania's support both through diplomacy and in a practical way, through the expertise provided by Romanian official to the administration of the Republic of Moldova in preparing its European path.

Prime Minister Bolojan wished the new ambassador much success and many achievements in the mandate he has been entrusted with. The meeting at the Victoria Palace was also attended by State Advisor in the Prime Minister's Chancellery Luminita Odobescu.
