Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu met on Tuesday with the athletes who will represent Romania at the Olympic Games in Paris.
"Today I wished success to the athletes and coaches from the Romanian delegation to the Olympic Games in Paris and told them that an entire country is waiting to relive the joy and pride generated by our footballers at EURO 2024. We have a team of talented and beautiful young people who are training, these days, at 42 degrees, with an absolutely admirable ambition and energy. I felt honored that they welcomed me with them for a few hours and I will be their biggest supporter," Ciolacu wrote on the Government's Facebook page.
The head of the Executive went to the training camp of the teams qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games, talked with the athletes, ate with them and took photos together.
"I would be very happy if, after the Government increased the financial rewards for Olympic medals, the Romanian delegation would force us to pay as much money as possible after the Paris Olympics! They richly deserve it, for their tremendous work of four years, as well as the millions of Romanians who will keep their fingers crossed in front of the television," Marcel Ciolacu pointed out.
The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris is scheduled for July 26.
Rowers Ionela and Marius Cozmiuc, husband and wife, will be the bearers of the Romanian flag at this ceremony.
The opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place, for the first time in the history of the Olympics, outside the stadium, on the Seine river. Approximately 94 barges will carry the athletes on the 6 kilometers of the stage of the opening show in Paris 2024, informs the Romanian Sports and Olympics Committee (COSR), in a post on the same social media page.A
