Viorica Dăncilă

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila met with Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier, with the two officials discussing about the economic relations between Romania and Germany, attracting new investments and the participation of German companies in public-private partnerships, a release of the Government Press Office sent to AGERPRES on Friday informs.

According to the quoted source, the discussion carried out on Thursday highlighted "the excellent" stage of the economic cooperation between Romania and Germany, with an emphasis on the upward and balanced trend of commercial exchanges, as well as Germany's position among the top investors on the Romanian market.

The PM evoked Romania's economic situation, "a country with a competitive economy," with "constant" investment opportunities and "and stable growth outlooks," which can be capitalised on by the German investors, too, the release shows.

"The two officials agreed that the economic relations represent a catalyst for the partnership that links the two countries, pointing out that the potential of this relationship is important and should be fully used by attracting new investments, especially in the sectors of the future (innovation, new technologies), but also through the participation of German companies in the public-private partnership projects," the release mentions.

Furthermore, also underscored was the significant role of human capital, which the dynamic and potential of bilateral economic relations are based on.

Moreover, also remarked was the importance of the Joint Committee for German Ethnics of Romania and the Joint Economic Committees of Romania with Bavaria, Baden-Wurttemberg lands, and, more recently, with Hessen, in the development of the Romanian-German economic and social partnership, the Gov't release mentions.

The meeting also occasioned an exchange of views on European topics, with the PM pointing out Romania's role as rotating Presidency at the EU Council.

Viorica Dancila showed openness for a fruitful collaboration with the central and land authorities of Germany during this European exercise, bringing to mind the constant support of Germany for the Euro-Atlantic journey of Romania.

According to the release, the PM showed that the main objective of Romania's Presidency at the EU Council is to contribute to the advancement of the European agenda, in this regard "sustainable" progresses being already recorded on a considerable number of files with a direct impact over the citizens.

PM Dancila also underscored that one of the major objectives of Romania's Presidency at the EU Council is to promote "a Europe of Convergence," in view of a sustainable and equitable development for all citizens and member states. From this perspective, the strengthening of the European Single Market and ensuring its optimal functioning should further represent one of the main levels of action at European level, the release mentions.
