The public health system needs a "shock treatment" that should go into the medical infrastructure, state-of-the-art equipment and the motivation of specialized staff, Premier Mihai Tudose wrote on Tuesday on his Facebook page. "Quality medical services imply investments: in the medical infrastructure, in up-to-date equipment, in specialized staff. The public health system needs a 'shock treatment' delivered in at least three directions," said Tudose.
"Consistent investments in infrastructure" are needed in order to recover what has not been done in due time in this sector. "In this respect we have in view the erection of the eight regional hospitals and the republican one, as assumed through the ruling programme," Tudose added.
As for the state-of-the-art, performing equipment, the Premier says it is "absolutely necessary for a sharp diagnostic and efficient treatments, implicitly." Moreover the Premier said the medical staff needs to be motivated, a reason why, he added, in the first months of 2017 the health system's average earnings have gown by over 35pct. "We shall continue to raise the health system's salaries by enforcing the new uniform pay law as of 1 January 2018. Therefore, we will stay consistent with what we have promised the Romanians at the dawn of our governing, that health care, education and infrastructure are our priorities," Tudose stressed.
In his message, the Executive's head reminded that the procurement contracts have been inked on Tuesday at the Victoria Palace for endowing 34 hospitals countrywide and from Bucharest with medical imaging equipment. "The 3 contracts worth EUR 19.8 million represent an important step toward ensuring quality medical services," Tudose concluded.
