The Government will be righting an injustice "injustice" regarding the pay to the Interior Ministry staff, Prime Minister Mihai Tudose said Friday.
"Today, we are righting an injustice regarding the pay to the Interior Ministry staff. There have been special efforts today, and [Interior] Minister Carmen Dan, together with the finance minister and [Labour Minister] Olguta Vasilescu have found a solution," Tudose said Friday at the beginning of a government meeting.
In her turn, Interior Minister Carmen Dan, said she will submit to the Government for approval a 15-pct increase in the salaries of the ministry's military and civilian personnel.
"We eliminate some discrepancies we detected in the salaries between military and civil servants with a special status, by raising pay by 15pct for civilian and military personnel alike. Thus, under the piece of legislation that I ask you and your colleagues to approve today, we propose a 10pct increase in the gross pay pool for the wages of police officers working with the Ministry of Internal Affairs," said Dan.
She also said she proposes to increase by 15pct the gross base pay of civilian personnel in public defence, public order and national security institutions.
"We also propose a 15-pct increase in the gross base pay of civilian personnel in public defense, public order and national security institutions, except for the civilian personnel of the Ministry of National Defence and other organisations operating under its authority who have already had their pay increase ... We intend to eliminate or take a step toward eliminating discrepancies in the establishment of monthly pay for the staff employed under Romania's public order and national security system," added Dan.
