National leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Ludovic Orban said Sunday evening that one of the conclusions after recent public revelations by Rise Project investigative journalists regarding national leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), major at rule, Liviu Dragnea, is that the latter feels guilty, adding that the revealed connections between Dragnea and Tel Drum are an "open secret."

"There are some conclusions I have drawn. First, Dragnea feels guilty. A second conclusion is that the current ruling party is capable of using any state institution to muzzle the press; nobody can convince me that the inspection by the tax inspectors at Rise Project precisely on the day the journalists were about to expose PSD leader's personal business was by chance, some coincidence. As a matter of fact, it is well-known that both [former PM] Grindeanu and [incumbent PM] Tudose have tried to replace the chief tax officer and failed because he was endorsed by Dragnea. I can tell you that these are no revelations, as I guess even children in Teleorman know that Tel Drum is Dragnea's, as that is some open secret; in fact, that is the milch cow of PSD. Obviously, evidence is needed to prove it," said Orban on a visit to the central county of Bistrita-Nasaud.

He added that he believes "a general mobilisation of the public opinion" will be able to counter the measures announced by the PSD in its manifesto, mentioning to the point household and business turnover taxation.

"A general mobilistaion of the public opinion is already felt, not just in the business community (...) On my opinion, if there is a general mobilisation they will certainly not pass their measures. In fact, you can see there is some hesitation in the public statements of the PSD leader. Certainly that does not mean they have given up, because they already have to foot the bill for the measures they have already taken - the public sector pay law and increasing the pension computation point to 1,000 lei. There are already some bills they have to pay but there is nowhere they can do it; the response to their entire populist demagoguery is visible in the real economy," added Orban.

Orban on Sunday evening attended a "Wheat Crown" festival at the Spermezeu, Bistrita-Nasaud County, alongside the county's MP in the Chamber of Deputies Robert Sighiartau, PNL's county management and former MP Ioan Oltean.
