President Nicusor Dan signed on Thursday a decree awarding a state distinction to the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania - Mosaic Cult.
According to the Presidential Administration, the head of state conferred the Cultural Merit Order, Officer rank, Category F, "Promotion of Culture," on the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania - Mosaic Cult.
The distinction was awarded in recognition of the federation's cultural, educational, charitable and social partnership role over the 90 years since its establishment, its efforts to preserve the memory of victims and support survivors of the Holocaust, its promotion of the history and traditions of Romania's Jewish community, and its support for the values of tolerance, respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, and interfaith dialogue.
