President Nicusor Dan is attending today the Rule of Law Forum at the Carol I Central University Library.

This is the second edition of the event, which takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday in Bucharest, in the presence of the President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, Marta Cartabia.

The Forum is organised by the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation - Rule of Law Programme for South-Eastern Europe, the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, the Representation of the European Commission in Romania and the Centre for Strategic Analysis.

The event brings together European and national institutions, courts, legal professionals, academia, civil society and public authorities, to discuss current challenges related to the rule of law and to identify appropriate courses of action.

The Rule of Law Forum is an annual reference conference for debate, taking as its starting point the European Commission's Report on the Rule of Law and the practical implementation of its findings and recommendations.

In 2026, in addition to the Rule of Law Report, the Forum will present the European standards and benchmarks of the Venice Commission's updated Rule of Law Checklist.
