President Klaus Iohannis believes that "the attempts to control the judicial system" make this system worse and points out that Justice Minister Tudorel Toader is avoiding him in the discussions on this topic. "These attempts to control the judicial system don't make it better, but make it worse," Iohannis told an informal meeting with journalists on Wednesday.
He showed that the Justice Minister, Tudorel Toader, is avoiding him in the case of this process. The President also said that he expected the Justice Minister to contact him when the modifications to the justice laws were initiated. The head of state labeled these modifications as "an elephant", however he criticised the procedure, saying it has been "completely lacking transparency."
President Iohannis also maintained that the proposals "will have wider or less wide consequences" and that "we won't be respected under any circumstance" after their adoption. "You must have fallen out of the moon to believe they won't effects," he underscored, adding that these modifications referring to the justice laws are debated fast in Parliament, as "those with criminal sentences have panicked." In respect to the referendum on justice, Klaus Iohannis indicated that he will keep it "for the proper time" and that "it isn't the last ace in the sleeve."
