President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday welcomed his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, on an official visit to Bucharest, at Cotroceni Palace.
Iohannis greeted Vucic in the Cotroceni Palace Ceremony Hall, where the two national anthems were played after a review of the Guard of Honour.
The two presidents will hold one-on-one and officials and then hold a joint news conference.
According to the Presidential Administration, discussed will be ways to deepen bilateral co-operation, both at political, economic and sectoral level.
Also addressed will be Romania's support for Serbia's accession to the European Union, including from the perspective of Romania holding the Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2019.
The two presidents will also address national minority affairs in the two countries, issues of common interest in cooperation in the Western Balkans and the main developments in the Kosovo file.
The visit follows intense Romanian-Serbian bilateral contacts in recent years and confirms the very good character of the relations between Romania and Serbia, according to the Presidential Administration.
President Iohannis paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia in July 2015.
Also featuring on the agenda of Vucic's visit are meetings with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and with Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Liviu Dragnea.
