The chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Iasi, deputy Alexandru Muraru, declared during a press conference on Thursday, that he discussed with the 51 liberal mayors within the county in order to support the Save Romania Union (USR) candidate to Romania's presidency, Elena Lasconi, during the second round of voting, informs Agerpres.
"The National Liberal Party in Iasi is completely involved in this electoral campaign as if (Elena Lasconi - ed.n were our candidate for the presidential elections. I had discussions with the PNL mayors today. All 51 support this (Elena's) candidacy in unison Lasconi ed.n) and this direction of a pro-European candidate. We appeal to the other political forces in Iasi, who did not have a candidate in the second round of the presidential elections, should support in the same firm manner and give messages, as the PNL does, for the pro-European candidate Elena Lasconi. We call on these political forces not to give an ambiguous message , truncated, not to give a message relative to Mrs. Lasconi's support, because any other message conditioned by other things, functions or positions in the future Executive endangers the honesty of this message of unconditional, clear, firm and categorical support for Elena Lasconi," said deputy Alexandru Muraru.
The leader of PNL Iasi also explained why he does not prefer the independent Calin Georgescu.
"(...) being helped by the Russian Federation, his election as president of Romania would completely endanger this country, it would bring isolationism and extremism, it would bring economic instability, national instability and negatively affect our international relations," deputy Alexandru Muraru also said.
