Process of checking bolts of the safety parapet on Braila Bridge, completed, rd 0.4 pct weak

The process of checking the bolts of the safety parapet on the eastern Braila Suspension Bridge was completed on Saturday, about 0.4 pct of the total of 100,000 bolts being loosened, informs the National Road Infrastructure Administration Company.

"Today the process of checking all the bolts of the safety parapet on the Suspended Bridge over the Danube from Braila (track 1 and track 2) was completed. Out of the total of 100,000 bolts, a number of 401 were loosened, which means approximately 0.4 pct of the total of these elements," reads the CNAIR Facebook page.

The checks were made in the conditions in which, this week, video images captured by local residents appeared online, in which it can be seen how several bolts in the parapet mounted on the Suspension Bridge over the Danube are loosened and come out without any effort.

The bridge over the Danube in Braila - the largest suspension bridge ever built in Romania, the third in size in Europe and the last bridge over the Danube before it flows into the Black Sea - was inaugurated on July 6, 2023.

The initial value of the project was 1.996 billion RON, without VAT, non-refundable external funds, and the builder is Asocierea Astaldi S.P.A. - IHI Infrastructure System Co. Ltd.
