Speaker of the Deputies Chamber Liviu Dragnea announced that the Standing Bureaus of Parliament are having a joint meeting on Thursday, with the main topic on the agenda the setting up of the Committee of inquiry into the activity of the head of the Protection and Guard Service (SPP). "Today (i.e. Wednesday) I decided together with Mr. Speaker Tariceanu to call a joint meeting of the permanent bureaus for tomorrow (i.e. Thursday), 12.00 am, with the main topic on the agenda to be the setting up of a Committee of inquiry into the activity of the SPP head, Mr. Pahontu, and also to see whether he involved the institution he heads in activities beyond its actual scope," Dragnea said at the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), before the starting of the meeting of this party's leadership.
He also added that he didn't know whether Laura Codruta Kovesi will also be invited to this committee. "I don't know what the committee will do, but only that it needs to look into its initial objectives," said Dragnea, when asked if the DNA (National Anti-Corruption Directorate) head will also be heard by the committee.
