Social Democratic Party (PSD) MP Marius Budai on Tuesday said that the minimum wage will increase next year and will not be frozen, stressing that the Social Democrats will not accept any violation of national or European legislation currently in force.
"The minimum wage will increase next year! It will not be frozen! I assure you of this! PSD will not accept the violation of national and European legislation that regulates the European minimum wage," Budai wrote on Facebook.
He added that PSD has fought both in the European Parliament, as well as within the Romanian Government and Parliament, to introduce these guarantees for the 830,000 employees with the lowest incomes.
"Personally, as Labour Minister supported by PSD, I changed the official stance of a strictly right-wing government that opposed the approval of the European Minimum Wage Directive. So, the question is not if it will increase, but by how much," the MP explained.
